A traffic stop for no working tag lights lead to an arrest for an outstanding warrant and to confiscation of a suspected schedule II narcotic.
Chattooga County Sheriffs Deputies stopped a vehicle traveling down Highway 114 for non working tag lights. Speaking with the occupants of the car, Deputies discovered that only one of the four occupants had any type of ID on them. However all the occupants did give their name and date of birth, and while three of the occupants returned no warrants one did. Melissa Bullard, a passenger in the car returned as having an active warrant in Chattooga County for theft by taking.
A consent to search the car was obtained and a white capsule shaped pill inscribed “M 365” which was identified as Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone, a Schedule II narcotic. Also located in the general area of the driver and passenger seat compartments were cut straws and sandwich baggies which are consistent with drug use and distribution. Both the driver and the front seat passenger denied having any knowledge of the pill and other items. Deputies advised that the drugs would be taken in to be tested and warrants could be issued for both later depending on the results.
Deputies released the car and placed Melissa Bullard under arrest for the outstanding warrant. Bullard was transported to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
