A woman who appeared to be trying to avoid a checkpoint in Summerville was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop.
According to a report released this week by the Summerville Police Department, the incident happened on March 27th when police had set up a checkpoint near the intersection of East Washington Street and Penn Street. Officers say that they observed a white Honda turn on a side street to avoid going through the checkpoint.
Officers went after the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as twenty-eight-year-old Kasper Rose Beck of Calhoun. Officers discovered that Beck was driving on suspended license. Police found drug-related objects with suspected methamphetamine residue inside the vehicle. Beck also admitted to officers that she had thrown a glass meth-pipe out of the window before the traffic stop.
Beck was arrested for driving on suspended or revoked licence, possession of drug related objects and a broken tail light and was booked into the Chattooga County Jail. Beck’s licence had been suspended for a prior DUI.
