Floyd County police arrested 40 year old David Franklin Brown of Rome on numerous drug charges following a traffic stop.
Reports indicate that Brown attempted to escape officers by driving at a high rate of speed through an apartment complex lot and when he pulled over he attempted to flee on foot.
Following a foot chase officers allegedly found 44 grams of methamphetamine in two plastic baggies. They also found a reportedly stolen gun on his possession.
Brown was taken into custody on charges of trafficking methamphetamine, the possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime with theft by receiving and fleeing or attempting to elude an officer.
In addition to felony charges, he is also charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of an officer and driving with a suspended license.
