A traffic stop near West Halls Valley Road and Highway 27 lead to a man being arrested for a DUI, among other charges.
According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office, a traffic stop was performed on Saturday May 22nd after Deputies noticed that the vehicle failed to maintain a single lane. When approaching the vehicle, Deputies noted that the driver, Michael Penson had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person.
A field sobriety test was performed which Penson failed and after refusing a breathalyzer Deputies placed him under arrest. Discovered in the car was an open container of Natural Light beer, along with several unopened containers in the back seat.
Penson was charged with failure to maintain a single lane, open container, and DUI Less Safe due to the refusal.
