Have you ever wanted to learn more about identifying trees in our area?  With over 250 species of trees native to our state, there are many different types of trees to discover.  An upcoming event at a nearby state historic site can help you learn more.

A “Tree I.D. Hike” is taking place at the New Echota Historic Site in neighboring Gordon County this Saturday.

Join New Echota rangers on a walk to learn about the forests that make up the Ridge and Valley Ecosystem.  Learn to identify several key tree species in the area, as well as their historic uses by both the Cherokees and settlers. The hike will be ~1.5 hours in duration, with a low to moderate difficulty. Adults (18–61): $7.00 Seniors (62+): $6.50 Youth (6–17): $5.50
