Last week the Town of Trion awarded a bid to local business B and J Construction for the demolition of 10 structures within the town limits that are currently owned by the town.  The old houses will be torn down and cleaned up according to a bid that was placed by the town.  The Trion Town Council awarded the bid to the company, owned by B.J. Gamble, but only after Gamble agreed to pay $8,000 in back taxes owed to the town.  According to The Summerville News, when the council awarded the bid to Gamble's company they included language that would require the businessman to pay the back taxes before proceeding with the project.  Gamble agreed to pay the taxes and Trion Mayor Larry Stansell says that the taxes have now been paid to the town.
