The Trion City School System is reaffirming its commitment to ensuring all children with disabilities in the City of Trion receive the support and services they need. The school system is actively continuing its “Child Find” initiative, a crucial program designed to identify, locate, and evaluate children with disabilities who may not currently be receiving appropriate services.
Dubbed ‘Child Find,’ this vital initiative aims to find all unidentified students with a disability, aged 3 to 21, who reside within the city limits of Trion. The ultimate goal is to determine their present and future program needs, thereby connecting them with appropriate educational and supportive services. This proactively ensures that every child has the opportunity to thrive and access a free and appropriate public education.
This crucial effort relies heavily on the mutual cooperation of parents, the general public, and both public and private agencies. Such collaboration is paramount in reaching children who may otherwise remain unserved or undiagnosed, often due to lack of awareness of available resources or the identification process itself.
Trion City Schools are urging local residents and agencies to come forward if they know of any children residing within Trion City limits not currently receiving disability services. Early identification is key to providing timely interventions and support that can significantly impact a child’s development and educational journey.
