Trion City Schools has announced a revised start date for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year, pushing back the first day of school to Monday, August 4, 2025. The decision, communicated by Supt. Dr. Phil Williams on Thursday, stems from ongoing construction projects aimed at enhancing campus safety and functionality.

Originally scheduled to begin on Friday, August 1, 2025, the delay will allow for the final completion and inspection of key facilities. In a statement released to parents and guardians, Dr. Williams explained the necessity of the adjustment.

“Our school system construction projects, specifically the new high school entryway and the newly renovated Trion Elementary School /Trion Middle School safety canopy are near completion,” the statement read. “Delaying the startup of school will help to ensure that our facilities are safe and welcoming to our students, families, and staff.”

The new high school entryway is expected to improve access and security, while the renovated safety canopy for Trion Elementary School and Trion Middle School will enhance student drop-off and pick-up zones, offering improved protection from the elements and a safer environment.

The Trion City Schools Administration expressed appreciation for the community’s understanding and support during this period of campus improvements. Students, parents, and staff are encouraged to mark the new start date on their calendars.
