Trion Town Council members met on Thursday for their regular monthly meeting and unanimously approved the first reading of the town’s new packaged liquor ordinance.
Trion, Summerville and Menlo are all looking to license packaged liquor stores after voters in all three municipalities approved referendums to allow the sale of packaged liquor inside the city limits. In recent years, the only place to purchase packaged liquor has been in the city limits of Lyerly.
Council members also unanimously approved a land agreement between the town and the Hurley family regarding a piece of property at the former Triangle Shopping Center.
