The Trion Bulldogs defeated Gordon Lee on Friday night on the road, while the Chattooga Indians lost to the Pepperell Dragons.

The Pepprell Dragons outscored the Chattooga Indians  Indians 20-0 in the third quarter and defeated the Chattooga Indians 34-9.  Pepperell fumbled the ball five times and lost it to Chattooga four of those times. But the visitors had four fumbles of their own, with the Dragons falling on the ball twice.  Pepperell scored the first points of the game, taking the lead to 6-0 over the Chattooga Indians. Indians’ quarterback Isaac Foster ran the ball three times inside the ten to get down to the one-yard line on fourth-and-goal, but Tevin Shropshire was stopped for no gain on the next play. The Dragons were able to capitalize by scoring on a 99-yard, 11-play drive that saw Morgan pick up gains of 29 and 28 yards and finish with Collins diving into the end zone from a yard out with 8:07 until halftime. The Pepperell Dragons scored early on in the second half and Chattooga was able avoid a shutout by scoring on a safety and putting together a 50-yard scoring drive that was capped by Garrett Salmon catching a 16-yard touchdown pass with 23 seconds left in the game.

After being off last week the Trion Bulldogs traveled to Chickamauga to take on their arch-rival Gordon Lee. The Trion Bulldogs moved to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Region 6A-A standings with a hard-fought 17-8 victory at Gordon Lee on Friday night. Trion led 6-0 at halftime on a 34-yard Cory Bethune touchdown run with 7:04 left to play in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was no good. Austin Weaver booted a 19-yard field goal at the 8:34 mark of the third quarter to add to the lead, and following a Gordon Lee fumble, Malik Martin crashed in from the 1-yard line. Bethune hit Chandler Lathem on the conversion to increase the lead to 17-0. Gordon Lee avoided the shutout as Caleb O’Neal found Colin Wright on a 36-yard TD pass with 2:42 to play. Scott Royal hauled in the conversion pass. Bethune ran eight times for 70 yards and completed 4-of-9 passes for 67 yards, but was picked off three times. Martin added 67 yards on 17 carries.

Next week the Chattooga Indians will be at home facing off with Dade County and the Trion Bulldogs will be at home against Christian Heritage.
