Trion Firefighter Efrain Hernandez has accomplished a significant milestone in his career with the successful completion of the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations – Core course at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center.

This intensive 40-hour program is designed to equip hazardous materials responders like Hernandez with the essential knowledge and skills to safely and effectively handle a wide range of dangerous situations. Through comprehensive classroom instruction and hands-on training exercises, Hernandez has gained a deep understanding of how to properly analyze the nature and scope of a hazardous materials incident, formulate an appropriate response plan, implement that plan efficiently, and continually evaluate its progress. These critical competencies will enable him to protect nearby civilians, the surrounding environment, and valuable property from the potentially devastating effects of a chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive release.
