Trion High School has been named as a 2010 winner of the Single Statewide Accountability System (SSAS) as a platinum award winner.

The SSAS competition winners must meet three criteria to be recognized as winners. They must make Adequate Yearly Progress for three consecutive years. They must demonstrate that at least 35 percent of students exceed standards in all test areas as measured by state assessments and they must demonstrate that at least 98 percent of students meet or exceed standards as measured by state assessments.

Principal Chuck Taylor said Wednesday that the recognition was a attribute to the tradition of Trion High School “where we continue to test among the state’s top high schools.”

“We were one of nine public high schools to receive the award,” Principal Taylor said. “It is a compliment to the parents, kids and teachers. Education is still important to families that send their kids here.”
