A forty-two-year-old Trion man was arrested on child molestation charges over the past weekend after a woman reported ongoing sexual abuse to local law enforcement.

Trion Police Department Investigator Dexter Blackmon told WZQZ News that the victim had lived in the home of the alleged perpetrator and that she told Trion Police that the abuse had been ongoing since she was fourteen years old.  The woman is now eighteen and has moved out of the house in Trion.

Investigator Blackmon said that the woman went to the sheriff’s office to report the abuse, and when sheriff’s investigators determined the abuse had happened inside the Trion town limits, they contacted the Trion Police Department to take over the investigation.

Blackmon said that after speaking with the victim and the victim talking with the Child Advocacy Center, he applied for and was granted a warrant for Trion resident Juan Carlos.

Carlos was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Saturday, but has since made bail.
