A Trion man was arrested Sunday for allegedly bring marijuana into the Chattooga County Jail. According to the report by the Sheriff's Office, Jeremy Kirk Herod, of a Halls Valley Road, Trion address was stopped after a BOLO was given out on his vehicle as being involved in a prowler call on Ridgeway Drive.
Due to the traffic stop, Herod was charged with no proof of insurance, improper/obstructive display of license plate, driving with a suspended/revoked license and making false statements when registering a motor vehicle.
As Herod was being booked into the Chattooga County Jail, and while being searched, jail personnel allegedly found in his right sock, in a clear plastic bag, a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Herod was additionally charged with possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and crossing guard lines with drugs/intoxicants/weapons.
