A 40 year old Trion man, made so many mistakes when he got behind the wheel of a vehicle during the early morning hours of Saturday, it's hard to know where to begin…so we'll start from the point where he was pulled over by a Chattooga County Sheriff's Office Deputy.

According to that Incident Report, Deputy William Blackmon was observing traffic when an SUV traveling on Highway 27 passed by him, without having any headlights or taillights on; the deputy fell in behind the vehicle and noticed that the driver was driving very erratically crossing back and forth into the turning lane, almost coming to a complete stop in the road, seemingly preparing to turn left when there was nowhere to go in that direction and so on.

After pulling the Ford Explorer over Deputy Blackmon approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of alcohol; he asked the man if he had his driver's license on him and if he had a license…the answer to both questions was "No."

The deputy then asked the man to step out of the vehicle, and when he did he stumbled and almost fell. When asked, the man said his name was Denis Rodriquez, and when the deputy ran the name, he learned that the subject's license was suspended. The answer to the "How many drinks have you had tonight," question was met with the standard response of "…two beers."

After consenting to taking an ALCOSENSOR test, Rodriquez tested positive for alcohol.

He also consented to field sobriety tests, but refused to complete them.

Rodriquez was ultimately charged with DUI, Failure to Maintain a Single Lane, Driving on a Suspended or Revoked License, and Driving with No Headlights. At that point he was taken to the Chattooga County Jail and his vehicle towed from the scene.
