On Saturday, Law enforcement officials were dispatched to Halls Valley Drive at Davis Road in Trion, in response to a report of a man lying in the middle of the road.

When questioned by officers, the man reportedly had trouble answering coherently; he was picked up and helped to the back of a patrol car – and it was at that time responding officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol on the man's breath.

About an hour earlier the Sheriff's Office dispatched a deputy to Mountain View Road, as the result of a domestic call where a man was walking down the road intoxicated.

Upon arrival the deputy met with the man's wife who advised that her husband had wanted to drink and as a result the pair had gotten into an argument, which ended with him getting out of the vehicle at the intersection of Old Highway 27 and Ridgeway Road.

She said he was already intoxicated at that time.

Officers had searched the area, but up until this point had been unable to find the man.

He was taken into custody without incident and he was transported to the Chattooga County Jail, where he was booked in on a charge of Public Drunkeness.
