A Trion man has been indicted by a Chattooga County Grand Jury in connection with a serious automobile accident that occurred in December 2023.

James Earl Dover, 28, of 27 Williams Cemetery Road, Trion, faces multiple charges, including four counts of serious injury by vehicle and two counts of driving under the influence (DUI). He is accused of driving drunk and causing a collision on December 3, 2023.

According to court records, the indictment alleges that Dover “did, without malice, cause bodily harm to Chasity Godfrey by rendering her leg and pelvis” useless. The serious injury by vehicle charges are felony offenses under Georgia law, reflecting the severity of the alleged injuries caused.

An indictment means that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to proceed with formal charges against an individual. Dover will now face these charges in Chattooga County Superior Court.

As with all legal proceedings, Dover is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Further details regarding court dates and proceedings have not yet been released.
