Several thousand Georgia citizens are living in Georgia’s seven hospitals for people with developmental and behavioral health needs.  Many of these patients live in these hospitals for most of their lives and have little out-side contact.

In 1958 the Georgia Municpal Association and then Governor Ernest Vandiver created the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade to help these patients celebrate Christmas each year with a present.  The staff at the regional hospitals say that without the Mayors’ Christmas Motorcade, may patients would go without any type of gift or recognition during the holidays.

The Town of Trion and Mayor Johnny Ingle has announced that they are starting a gift collection campaign and are asking for help from the public.  If your school, church, business or civic group would like to participate in the project contact the Town of Trion at 706-734-2332 for further information on how you can get involved.
