Trion residents are advised to mark their calendars as the Town of Trion has officially announced the details for its 2025 Municipal General Election, including key dates for candidate qualifying, early voting, and the election itself.

The Municipal General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4, 2025, with voting taking place from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Trion Recreation Department, located at 90 Dalton Street, Trion, Georgia.

Candidate Qualifying Period Announced

Prospective candidates vying for positions on the Town Council and School Board, as well as the Mayor’s seat, must qualify in late August. Qualifying will be held at the Trion Town Hall, located at 1220 Pine Street, Trion, Georgia.

The qualifying period will open at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and conclude at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, August 22, 2025. Daily qualifying hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The office will be closed for qualification between 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. each day for lunch.

The following positions are up for election, each carrying a four-year term:

  • Mayor: Incumbent Lanny E. Thomas. The qualifying fee is $434.00.
  • Council Seat #1: Incumbent Jeff “Fro” Wilson. The qualifying fee is $86.00.
  • Council Seat #2: Incumbent Becky McWhorter. The qualifying fee is $86.00.
  • Council Seat #3: Incumbent Mickey McGraw. The qualifying fee is $86.00.
  • School Board Seat #1: Incumbent Darriel Broome. The qualifying fee is $87.00.
  • School Board Seat #2: Incumbent Johnny Brimer. The qualifying fee is $87.00.
  • School Board Seat #3: Incumbent B. Randall Henderson Jr. The qualifying fee is $87.00.

Early Voting Options

For those preferring to cast their ballots early, advanced voting will be available at the Trion Town Hall (1220 Pine Street, Trion, Georgia) beginning Tuesday, October 14, 2025, and concluding on Friday, October 31, 2025.

Early voting hours will be Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Additionally, the Town Hall will offer early voting on two Saturdays: October 18, 2025, and October 25, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Voter Registration Deadline

The last day to register to vote for the upcoming municipal general election is Monday, October 6, 2025. Voter registration is available at the Chattooga County Registrar’s Office or other locations as required by Georgia Law.
