According to Town of Trion Mayor Benny Perry, Officer Chad Spraggins will be taking over as the Town of Trion’s new Police Chief. Spraggins has been serving as Trion’s School Resource Officer.  The decision was made and announced early Friday. Twenty One applications were submitted for the position and each were reviewed by the mayor and council. Spraggins was chosen from three top candidates. The other two candidates being considered were Roger Avans and Kenneth parker according to Mayor Perry. Spraggins will be placed on a 90 day probationary period. Mayor Perry stated that "he’s taken over the job immediately."
