Aspiring anglers in Trion High School and Middle School, along with their parents, are invited to an important informational meeting for the Trion Bass Team on Thursday, October 16th, at 6:00 PM in the high school Media Center.

This meeting will provide vital details for the upcoming season, including competition schedules, team expectations, and registration procedures for the popular and growing sport. High school bass fishing has gained significant traction in Georgia, offering students a unique blend of outdoor activity and competitive athletics.

Bass fishing in Georgia is organized as a sanctioned sport through the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), partnering with major professional organizations such as Major League Fishing (MLF) and The Bass Federation (TBF). This partnership ensures a structured and competitive environment for student-anglers.

Students registered with the Trion Bass Team will have the opportunity to compete in GHSA-sanctioned tournaments, which typically include four regional qualifiers held throughout the winter and spring. These qualifying events build up to the highly anticipated State Championship, usually held in late March or April, where the state’s top high school anglers vie for the title.

Beyond the GHSA circuit, Trion students can also explore non-sanctioned events through other well-regarded organizations such as the Georgia BASS Nation or the Amateur High School Bass Anglers (AHSBA). These additional avenues provide opportunities for year-round competition, allowing young anglers to hone their skills and passion for fishing continuously.
