The Trion Bulldogs will meet a familiar foe in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs.  The GHSA officially announced today that Trion will travel to Ocilla to play the Irwin County Indians in the first round.  The Bulldogs are ranked 13th in the GHSA Power Rankings while Irwin County is ranked 4th.  Trion and Irwin County met last year in the first round of the playoffs and despite being a heavy underdog, Trion went on to defeat Irwin County 31-6. 

 Ocilla is approximately 280 miles from Trion and is a five hour road trip down I-75 South. 

 Irwin County was the second place team out of Region 2A with an 8-1-1 overall record and 5-1-0 region record.  Irwin County finished second behind region champion Clinch County.  Irwin County’s only loss this season was to Clinch County by a score of 30-24.  The Indians did record a tie in week 2 against AA foe Fitzgerald 20-20.

 Irwin County recorded victories this year over Taylor County, East Laurens, Wilkinson County, Telfair County, Lanier County, Turner County, Wilcox County and Charlton County.

 The Bulldogs will utilize an open week this week to prepare for the playoffs and the game with Irwin County will be next Friday, November 22^nd.   AM 1180 will broadcast the game live both on the radio and online at www.chattoogainfo.com
