There is no doubt that fog was a factor in the wreck on Tuesday, January 11th, between a Ford Taurus and a Mack log truck on Highway 157 at Cloudland.  What remains to be seen is if citations will be issued in connection with the accident and just who might be issued citations.

The Georgia State Patrol released a report yesterday on the accident that stated that the log truck, driven that belongs to Double A Timber of a Unity Church Road address in Chattooga County and was driven by 50 year old David Dewayne Patterson of an East Armuchee Road address, did pull into the path of an oncoming vehicle on Highway 157.

However, the report also stated that the car, which was a 2000 Ford Taurus driven by 38 year old Michael Clayton Smith of a Gilreath Mill Road, Cloudland address, did not have the headlights in the "on" position when troopers checked at the scene.  According to the report, Smith told troopers that he "believed" the headlights were on but "that he was not certain."  Smith told troopers that he was traveling at or about the posted speed limit of 55 miles per hour.

The report said that citations may still be issued in connection with the accident.
