A truck was impounded by Chattooga County Sheriff's deputies Monday after it was found on property on which it didn't belong. According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a Halls Valley Road address and were told by the property owner Richard Greeson that someone had cut the lock to his iron gate.
When Greeson called 911 he said there was one male still on the property. By the time deputies arrived the man reportedly had run into the woods, west toward Ga. 1. The man is identified as white, approximately 6 ft , 2 inches tall, 170 pounds, short dark hair and scruffy beard, wearing stone-washed jeans, a print shirt and a gray hoodie. Greeson then showed deputies a white Ford Ranger truck backed into the woods so it wouldn't be seen. The tag came back to a Brown Ford Ranger with cancelled plates and no insurance with an owner from Dalton Ga. Inside the back of the truck was a newer red generator, lawn mower, and weed eater. There was a chain saw in the front, as well as numerous tools including bolt cutters, as well as a variety of food and clothing.
The report stated that it looked as if the suspect was homeless and living in the woods or the truck. The truck was impounded and it does not say on the report if the suspect was ever located.
