The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a vehicle that happened on Hemphill Road.

The theft was reported on Sunday when Jimmy Ward told a responding deputy that he had been working on a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck.  Ward told the deputy that he was in the process of swapping the engine out on the truck.

The complainant said when he went to bed on Saturday night, the truck was parked beside his house, but when he woke up Sunday morning the truck was not there.

Ward told the deputy that he had left the keys in the ignition.

The responding deputy reported the truck as stolen and listed it with the GCIC registry.
