McWhorter                                              Trammell 

Two men were arrested on drug charges after a search of what Summerville Police describe as a “shack” located behind a residence on Crowe Street on Saturday. 

Summerville Police and a Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputy went to the building because they believed nineteen-year-old Antonio McWhorter was staying there and had a warrant for his arrest.  When they arrived, McWhorter met them at the door of the building and the officers could smell a strong odor of burnt marijuana.  Inside the residence, the officers could see twenty-four-year-old Billy Don Trammell sitting on a bed.  Officers could see marijuana and drug paraphernalia in plain view and asked for permission to search the residence.

McWhorter and Trammell refused permission to search the residence.  The law enforcement officers returned with a warrant issued by the Chattooga County Magistrate’s Office.

Once inside, police and deputies found marijuana and cocaine.

Both men were arrested and booked into the Chattooga County Jail on marijuana and cocaine possession charges.  McWhorter was additional charged with two counts of probation violation.
