Two Lyerly residents were killed yesterday afternoon when their vehicle was struck from behind on Highway 114 in Chattoogaville.  According to reports the accident happened when 86 year old Charlie Caldwell was attempting to turn onto Sardis Church Road where he lived.  He was struck in the rear by a Delivery Truck driven by 31 year old Jeremy Hankins of Lyerly.  Caldwell and a passenger Alice Fay Ivester were declared dead on the scene by emergency personell.  The accident  which happened shortly afte 2 pm. shut down traffic on 114 for some time.  The Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome as well as Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputies, Chattooga County EMS and local fire departments were on the scene.
