The unemployment numbers released last week by the Georgia Department of Labor looked better for Chattooga County. The county’s unemployment rate fell to 11.3% – still higher than neighboring counties. Walker County’s rate was 8.9%, Dade County 8.9% and Catoosa County 8%.
The Georgia Department of Labor reported last week that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in metro Rome declined to 10.1 percent in April, down eight-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 10.9 percent in March.
