As of 6 p.m., approximately 3,500 NGEMC customers are without power as a result of high winds, fallen trees and downed power lines. Areas where a concentrated number of power outages have occurred include Chattooga, Gordon and Walker counties. However, scattered outages are also affecting Catoosa, Floyd, Murray and Whitfield couties.

Power in these affected areas may remain out through the night due to extensive damage to NGEMC utility poles and the inability to reach these areas due to fallen trees. Severe weather expected this evening may slow power restoration efforts as well as cause new outages. Within NGEMC’s service territory, approximately 50 broken poles have been reported in addition to fallen trees and debris across roadways causing many roads to be impassable.

Crews are working now to restore power, and will continue to work diligently throughout the night. They will remain on duty until all power has been restored.

Please stay away from downed lines and report them immediately to North Georgia EMC, your local power company or call 911.

To report outages, please call our offices to reach our 24-hour dispatch. During widespread outages, phone lines may be unavailable due to extremely high call volume.

NGEMC serves over 99,000 customers in portions of Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield counties.
