As of 9:30 p.m., approximately 10,000 NGEMC customers are without power as a result of high winds, fallen trees and downed power lines. High-voltage transmission lines are also down. Outages are widespread across the seven counties served by NGEMC. Power in these affected counties may remain out through the night and into tomorrow due to extensive damage to NGEMC’s distribution system. Severe weather continues to cause outages and fallen trees and debris in roadways slow restoration efforts.
Crews are working now to restore power, and will continue to work diligently throughout the night. They will remain on duty until all power has been restored.
Please stay away from downed lines and report them immediately to North Georgia EMC or to local emergency authorities.
During widespread outages, phone lines may be unavailable due to extremely high call volume.
NGEMC serves over 99,000 customers in portions of Catoosa, Chattooga, Floyd, Gordon, Murray, Walker, and Whitfield counties.
