Authorities are looking into what apparently began as a wellfare check in Cherokee County, Alabama and eventually turned into a high speed chase which crossed over into Chattooga County, Georgia.
Cherokee County Deputies had reportedly received a call that an individual had threatened to harm himself Wednesday morning. The subject was spotted in a vehicle and when law enforcement attempted to pull the subject over, he fled…leading officers on a chase from the area of Fullerton Road, onto the Holland-Chattoogaville Road and finally to Silver Hill Road, where the driver crashed.
The subject , whose name has not yet been released, was transported by Redmond EMS to a Rome area hospital for treatment and will be facing charges upon his release.
It's unclear what prompted the man to flee, however its believed he may have been under the influence of alcohol and/or prescription medication at the time.
The incident remains under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol..
