Last week, coronavirus testing began at several Northwest Georgia Health Departments.  The closest COVID-19 testing locations for Chattooga County residents is in Floyd County or Walker County.  The Walker County Health Department says that they are not doing that testing at the health department, but are instead using the Walker County Civic Center in Rock Spring.

Any Northwest Georgia resident with symptoms of Coronavirus – such as fever, dry cough, or shortness of breath may now receive free testing provided by Public Health at the Walker County Civic Center, but first you must have a screening phone call.  You must have that  referral before being tested.

If you feel you have symptoms and want to be tested at the Walker County Civic Center, you should call 706-802-5329 from 8 AM until 7 PM Monday through Friday and from 8 AM until 5 PM on Saturdays to be screened for the free COVID-19 test.

Healthcare workers, long-term care workers and first responders may also be tested free… and they do NOT need a referral.

Again, if you feel you have symptoms, you should call 706-802-5329 first.
