Additional information has now been released regarding an apparent homicide in Walker County.

According to Sheriff Steve Wilson, his office obtained a search warrant for a residence after a concerned citizen contact his office Sunday, saying there may be a deceased female in the home.

That warrant was served around 3:00 that afternoon and detectives found the body of 38 year old Christina M. Denson in the bedroom.

Denson appeared to have been shot once in the neck – a .22 caliber handgun was believed to be the weapon in the shooting.

Her husband, Steven M. Denson, was taken into custody, questioned and ultimately charged with murder.  According to the Walker County Messenger, Steven Denson gave a statement to law enforcement accepting responsibility for his wife’s death.

Sheriff Wilson said it appeared that the body had been there between 24 and 36 hours.
