A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 7 AM EST FRIDAY FOR MUCH OF FAR NORTH GEORGIA… GENERALLY ALONG AND NORTH OF A LINE FROM ROME TO DAWSONVILLE TO CLEVELAND.

A QUICK MOVING STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA TONIGHT. PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS LIGHT RAIN DURING THE EARLY PART OF THE EVENING… CHANGING OVER TO LIGHT SNOW BY MIDNIGHT AND CONTINUING INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS FRIDAY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF A HALF INCH TO AN INCH IS EXPECTED IN THE ADVISORY AREA. THE LIGHT SNOW SHOULD END SHORTLY AFTER DAYBREAK FRIDAY.

MUCH COLDER AIR WILL BE SPREADING INTO THE ADVISORY AREA AFTER MIDNIGHT. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP INTO THE MID AND UPPER 20S AFTER MIDNIGHT. ANY LIQUID WATER ON ROADS WILL FREEZE CAUSING PATCHES OF BLACK ICE TO FORM TONIGHT.

PEOPLE TRAVELING ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA TONIGHT SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR SLICK ROADS DUE TO THE LIGHT SNOW AND BLACK ICE.
