With the “heat on” to replenish critical blood supplies, the American Red Cross is issuing an urgent appeal for local residents to roll up their sleeves and donate. A vital blood drive is scheduled for Tuesday, August 12, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the Chattooga County Chamber & Civic Center.
The demand for blood is constant, yet donations often decline during summer months due to vacations and busy schedules. Blood products are essential for accident victims, surgical patients, individuals battling cancer, and those with chronic illnesses. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood, and a single donation can potentially save up to three lives.
“We consistently rely on the generosity of our community to help us maintain a robust blood supply,” said a representative from the Chattooga County Community Red Cross Club. “The ‘Help Fill the Need’ campaign is a direct response to the current challenges we face in finding enough donors to meet patient demand. Your donation on August 12th will make a tangible difference right here in our region and beyond.”
To encourage participation, all presenting donors at the Chattooga County drive will receive a $15 E-Gift Card to the merchant of their choice. Additionally, donors will be offered a free A1C screening on their blood, which can help assess the risk of developing diabetes.
Donors are encouraged to make an appointment in advance to help manage wait times and ensure a smooth donation experience.
