The Better Business Bureau is warning those who want to help out storm victims in Kentucky and other mid-South areas that were devastated when tornadoes ripped through the area earlier in December. There are many bogus “charities” that are taking advantage of people with good intentions who want to help.
BBB’s Give.org recommends before making a contribution or sending a donation to verify if the charity they choose to support meets the BBB Standards for Charity Accountability and review this list of charities.
Instead of clicking on links that others may send in texts and social media, which could even be bogus and cause issues with your phone or computer, consider making a cash donation directly through the charity’s own website.
In an emergency situation, this is likely the fastest way of sending help.
