A sixty-nine-year-old Valley Head woman was arrested by the DeKalb County, Alabama Sheriff’s Office for stealing flower arrangements from cemeteries. According to reports, Martha Jane Bowes was arrested last Saturday and charged with theft of property in the fourth-degree and desecration of a gravesite. Last week, cameras caught Bowes stealing two sets of handmade floral arrangements from a cemetery. On Saturday, authorities contacted Bowes and tried to get her to turn herself in but she said she was currently in Mississippi and couldn’t. However, investigators say she lied and was in Fort Payne. Authorities say that they found more floral arrangements inside Bowes’ home when she was taken into custody.
