A Chattooga County deputy was on routine patrol last Friday morning shortly after 2 AM when he noticed a car that had hit a power pole.  The power pole was snapped near the base and was only held up by the power lines, according to an incident report from the sheriff’s office.  The deputy could not find anyone in the vehicle and concluded that the driver had left the scene.  The Chrysler Corisca was registered to a person in LaFayette, but had a tag on it belonging to a 2005 Ford Escape, registered to Thomas Reynolds of a Rose Circle, Trion address. Inside, the deputy found the title to the vehicle, which had been signed over to Reynolds.  The vehicle was impounded by the sheriff’s department.  At the time of the report, the sheriff’s office had not been able to contact Reynolds.
