Chattooga 911 is reporting a problem, saying Verizon customers are currently unable to direct dial 911.

Verizon Wireless is currently experiencing an issue with their customers being able to directly dial 911. When a Verizon phone dials 911, the call is being answered by an automated service stating the number you have dialed is no longer in service. Verizon has been made aware of this issue and is currently working to solve the problem. In the event you need to reach 911, please dial either 706-857-0750 or 706-857-3400. Please only use these numbers if you are in need of assistance until Verizon can repair the issue with the 911 service.
Chattooga 911 says that they will notify WZQZ and other local media when the problem is resolved.
