Christmas is coming up and one sure way to tell that Christmas time is coming is the Victorian Christmas window displays in downtown Summerville. The Victorian Christmas Committee puts in many hours to put on the displays in Chattooga County.
Jan Morriss with the Victorian Christmas Committee spoke with AM 1180 about the displays saying that the historical displays with life-size figures. Local artists and volunteers work together to portray historic Christmas events from the Victorian Era. Twenty different displays are in downtown Summerville with a wide-range of historical figures.
A new feature this year is the Helen Kellar Display for those that are visually impaired. Marsha Farrow told AM 1180 that the Helen Keller will be a hands on interactive display that the visually impaired can touch. The Helen Keller Display will be at the Chattooga County Civic Center.
The Summerville Victorian Christmas walking tour will be this Sunday from 2 to 4 pm and will feature live narration. You can hear an interview with Ms. Morriss and Ms. Farrow coming up on AM 1180 on Saturday morning following the county commissioner’s broadcast at 8:15 and again in the 4 PM hour and on Sunday morning following the local news at 7 AM.
