Dr. Gary Voccio, Health Director for the ten-county Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest District says that the region is experiencing high numbers of COVID-19 cases.

Dr. Voccio says that area residents need to be mindful that vaccines are helpful in the fight against the COVID-19 virus.  He says that there have been a lot of questions lately about a new booster that is expected to be available in the next few weeks.

While the new booster is not yet available, there is still a large portion of the population that has not been immunized for the coronavirus.

COVID-19 vaccines are available at the Chattooga County Health Department.  On Thursday’s of each week walk-ins are accepted for COVID-19 shots at the Chattooga County Health Department.
