If you plan to vote in the August 11th runoff election in the Republican Primary, and you plan to vote absentee, you need to request an absentee ballot. Chattooga County Registrar Sheena Weaver told WZQZ News on Tuesday, that the Georgia Secretary of State is not automatically sending requests to registered voters like they did in June.
According to the Registrar, you have to make a request for each election in which you want an absentee ballot. A request made for the June 9 Primary does not automatically result in a ballot for the August 11 Runoff.
The exception to that would be if someone selected Elderly, Disabled, or UOCAVA (military personnel) on the absentee by mail application they made for either the March 24, 2020 Presidential Preference Primary or for the June 9 Primaries, and they did not have that cancelled for any reason, and they are still registered to vote, and they cast a Republican absentee by mail ballot, then they will automatically receive an absentee by mail ballot for August. \
Also, the Registrar added “The My Voter Page is a voter’s best friend. There, a voter can see if we have received an absentee ballot application for the elections in this election cycle. The application for an absentee ballot is also available on the My Voter Page, right above the link that tells them if an application has been received. There is also a spot to view the sample ballot. Advance Voting dates, times, and locations are listed for August and November. The voter’s registration date is also listed so they can verify if they registered in time for an election. They can even print their own precinct card directly from the My Voter Page.”
