AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio reported the DUI arrest of Arthur Paul Wade of a McCollum Street address in Trion over the weekend. More information on that arrest was released by the Georgia State Patrol Post in Rome on Tuesday.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Wade was travelling north on Highway 114 attempting at elude law enforcement officers with the Georgia State Patrol and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department. Wade attempted to pass a Wal-Mart Tractor – Trailer in a no passing zone on a hill crest in a curve in the area Spraggins Hill Road. Wade was driving a 2000 Saturn that was registered to Michalla Nelso of a Desoto Parkway address in Ft. Payne when he attempted to pass the Wal-Mart Truck, Wade struck a 2004 Silverado Pick Up Truck driven by Terry Dupree of Leesburg, Alabama who was travelling south bound on Highway 114.
Wade’s car struck the Silverado Pick Up in the rear passenger side and spun out of control travelling some 455 feet before coming to a stop on the southbound side of Highway 114.
Video of the entire incident was captured by Georgia State Patrol Corporal Joseph Massingill. Wade was arrested and charged with multiple charges including DUI, attempting to elude, HV-DUI, improper passing, speeding, no seatbelt, open container, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
