The Walker County Board of Commissioners will meet on Thursday, December 4th at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Courthouse Annex in LaFayette. The agenda includes several routine items, such as approval of the agenda and minutes from the November 6th meeting.

A public hearing is scheduled to follow, featuring two planning and zoning requests. One request comes from Ronnie Martin, who is seeking a variance to build a second house on 2.84 acres on Townsend Road in Rocky Face. Another request, from Clarence Lowell Poteet, seeks to rezone property on Poteet Drive in Chickamauga from agricultural to residential-agricultural.

The consent agenda includes multiple items, such as reappointments to the Historic Preservation Commission, acceptance of a $75,000 grant for the District Hill Historic Cemetery Project, and agreements related to transportation and the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.

Commissioners will also consider several new business items, including contracts for mowing, trail resurfacing at Walker Rocks Park, the purchase of a digital message board for the Elections Office, a traffic light replacement project at McFarland Avenue and North Jenkins Road, a UPS system replacement for Walker County 911, and the purchase of a 2025 Gradall Excavator.

The next regular meeting will take place on January 8th at the same location
