Two Walker County School Board members have asked for a petition against them to be dismissed. Superior Court Judge Brian House ordered the two to appear in court to face the petition that says they should not be on the school board because they each have sons who hold positions with the Walker County School System.
Mike Carruth and Karen Harden has asked the court to dismiss the petition on the basis that their sons hold “coordinating” positions instead of “administrative positions” in the school system. Georgia law says that school board members cannot serve if they have immediate family in administrative positions in the school system.
Chelsea Cagle brought the petition before Judge House late last year and Judge House ordered the two school board members to answer the petition in court.
The two school board members say that Cagle’s petition is politically motivated and are asking the court to force Cagle to pay their legal fees.
