Voters in neighboring Walker County went to the polls on Tuesday to cast their votes for a multi-member county commission.  Voters had approved the switch from a sole-commissioner form of government, but the former sole commissioner will now be the Walker County Commission Chairman.

The five-person commission will include four part-time commissioners and the commission chairman who will serve full-time.  All of the candidates who were elected on Tuesday are Republicans and captured a large percentage of the vote.

Robert Blakemore, won the District One race with 76% of the vote; Mark Askew won the District Two position with 81% of the vote; Brian Hart won the District Three seat with 82% of the vote.  Robert Shultz was unopposed in his bid for the District Four seat.

Shannon Whitfield, the current sole-commissioner of Walker County was unopposed in his race to become Commission Chairman.
