Walker County Schools Superintendent Damon Raines has decided to cancel in-person graduation ceremonies and proms at both LaFayette and Ridgeland High Schools.
Both schools will offer a “drive-through diploma pickup” on the previously-scheduled dates. The drive-through at LaFayette High will be at 8 a.m. on Friday, June 26th. At Ridgeland, the drive-through will be at 8 a.m. on Thursday, June 25th.
The proms, set for July, were cancelled based on new guidelines from the Governor’s office concerning a possible second-wave of COVID-19 community spread. It bans large gatherings of over 50 people.
