The Walker County School System has announced some changes in the “back to school” schedule after Christmas break. 

Next week, the system will finish with the current hybrid schedule… with Friday, December 18th the last day of class before the holiday.

The “return to class” date has been moved forward to Monday, January 11th for all students… and it will be in-person instruction five days per week.  The virtual option remains open to parents who choose it for their children.

Superintendent Damon Raines said it’s hoped that adding a few extra days-off will give any students exposed to COVID over the holiday, a chance to recover or quarantine without missing school days.

Walker County Teachers will be in-service for planning the week of January 4-8… and again, students return to class on Monday, January 11th.
