A Rossville teen is behind bars today, charged with murdering a 47-year-old man.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Department:

Seventeen-year-old Joshua Samuel Simpson of 134 Hogan Road was arrested early Saturday morning, about seven hours after a decomposing body was discovered.

The body of Michael Warren Wyscaver, who lived in a duplex at 900A Carline Road, was reported discovered about 6 p.m. Friday.

The body was found by neighbors in an abandoned house at 904 W. Pine St., which is near the victim’s residence. He had sustained blows to the head.

The Sheriff’s Department took Simpson in for questioning about 1 a.m. Saturday and charged with him with murder about four hours later.

Authorities believe he killed Wyscaver sometime around Aug. 15. They believe the two got into an argument, and Simpson hit Wyscaver several times on the head.

Simpson is being held in the Walker County jail.
