Lauren Alaina, a 16-year-old Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School student from Rossville, has been voted a finalist on “American Idol.” That means she’s one of 13 contestants in the running this year to become the next “Idol.” The 13 finalists, which were named during tonight’s show, consist of five males and five females picked by voters — plus three "wildcards” (one male and two females) who were voted off but given a second chance by the “Idol” judges. The finalists will begin live competitions next Wednesday starting at 8 p.m., narrowing the field each week until May’s finale.
